How to care for pearls
Cultured pearls are relatively soft compared to other gemstones and precious metals. It is important to take extra care to ensure that they remain bright and beautiful for years to come.
Pearls are porous, so cosmetics, perfumes and hairspray can gradually deteriorate them.
Therefore, it would be best to put on the pearls after applying makeup, perfume, and hairspray. A good rule for caring for pearls is that they are the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
It's also a good idea to wipe your pearls with a soft cloth after use, and from time to time, you can dampen it with water for a more thorough cleaning. Avoid using abrasive soaps as they can damage the shine of the pearls.
Use your pearls often, pearls absorb natural oils from the skin and this keeps them hydrated and shiny, however try not to wear them while playing sports as sweat is acidic and can dull their shine over time .
Always keep your pearls separate from other hard jewelry, such as metals and other precious stones, to prevent scratching. Ideally, keep them in their box, in a cloth bag or in a separate jewelry box.
